Full of Food – Fueled by You!

At Small Things, every mile matters. Thanks to the generosity of the McLean Contributionship, we’ve added a brand-new refrigerated van to our fleet. This van is already making an incredible impact—driving from retailer to retailer, rescuing fresh food that might otherwise go to waste, and delivering it straight to families in need. After unloading at the warehouse, it’s reloaded with produce and essentials for one of our three markets. With your support and the help of partners like McLean, we’re able to keep Philadelphia families fed with dignity and love.

National Night Out

This year, Small Things joined neighbors and partners for Roxborough’s National Night Out. Held annually nationwide, this event strengthens police-community partnerships and fosters neighborhood spirit. Our warehouse community came together for an evening of food, connection, and safety awareness. We were especially proud to debut our new refrigerated van, showing neighbors how we keep food moving with dignity and love.

Partner Spotlight: Philabundance

Philabundance’s Mascot at the Community Kitchen

This summer, our friends at Philabundance made sure kids across Philadelphia didn’t go hungry. As our largest supplier, they provide both fresh and dry goods to help us feed thousands each week. Their Community Kitchen prepared kid-friendly breakfasts and lunches for children who usually receive meals during the school year. Small Things distributed these meals through our trusted pantry partners who know which families need them most. The result? Hundreds of children enjoyed delicious meals like berry French toast, buffalo chicken wraps, and pancakes.

We’re proud to spotlight Philabundance for their vital role in fighting childhood hunger.

Employee Spotlight: Jack Kennedy

Jack at National Night Out

If you’ve ever picked up an order at Small Things, chances are you’ve met Jack Kennedy. Known as the friendly face of our warehouse, Jack not only greets partners with a smile but also carefully picks and prepares their orders. This summer, Jack went above and beyond, singlehandedly distributing hundreds of kids’ meals to partners serving children in need. Beyond his work at Small Things, Jack serves as chaplain for the Police 5th District in Roxborough—showing up early and staying late to support officers at roll call. We are proud to honor Jack this month for his dedication, kindness, and service both to Small Things and the wider community.
